ARE YOU ABOUT TO BE INTERVIEWED BY POLICE?

You have the right to remain silent. If you are suspected of committing a crime, your decision not to answer any police questions can often be the most important decision in securing a successful defence.

You may think as you have nothing to hide you should answer police questions, that is incorrect it is still in your best interest not to make a comment. You need to speak to a lawyer before being interviewed, if one cannot be reached make no comment.

It may be suggested that the quickest way to sort the matter out is to answer police questions, this is not in your best interests, you should instead make no comment.

There are some specific exceptions, however if you are arrested you should remain silent, your decision to remain silent cannot be held against you in a court of law, it is a privilege that can be relied upon against self-incrimination.
